Signal 2591

In a scene more reminiscent of the mid-west than the Colorado Plateau, the Cholla Power plant at Joseph City stands in sharp relief to a passing late-spring cold front. The Cholla Power plant burns coal for which the BNSF delivers solid sets to a small yard adjacent to the plant. A plant switcher then handles the shuffling and unloading of cars. Most of the coal burned here originates from various mines in New Mexico, including the York Canyon. Pictured around the curve from signal 2591 is cantilever 2602
