Cantilever Signal 2622

The backdrop for cantilever 2602 is the Cholla power plant operated by Arizona Public Service (APS). Located in Joseph City, the plant spur and 3-track yard were placed in service on February 3, 1961, but the plant's first unit did not go into service until 1962. Today there are four units generating a total of 1,023 megawatts. The plant is good business for the Santa Fe as it burns New Mexico coal and receives it in solid train loads.
