Wig-Wag Mile 870.7 | |
![]() |
Nearly as rare as the semaphore is the wig-wag. This one is located on the isolated dirt road BIA 84 (Bureau of Indian Affairs) near the old rail station of Elota. BIA 84 is the road to Santo Domingo Pueblo. Only three wig-wags remain on the New Mexico Division: Elota, Wagon Mound, and Delhi, Colorado. The Elota and Wagon Mound wig-wags are scheduled to be removed by the end of Summer 2001. All are upper-quadrant style and all are manufactured by the Magnetic Flagman. Most wig-wags by Magnetic Flagman were constructed in Los Angeles, however, all three were built at Magnetic's Minneapolis, Minnesota plant. Searchlight signal 8702 compliments this rural scene.
